Synopsis:
In 1835 Boston, Tom, a mild mannered shipping clerk leads a life of quiet desperation trying to support his thrice widowed sister and five nieces. As Haley’s Comet travels across the sky, Tom and his coworker Sam, earn a little extra cash at night by robbing graves to supply cadavers to a medical school. Honest grave robbers, they take only the worthless body and leave the deceased’s valuables behind in the grave. Our heroes narrowly escape detection again and again as wild rumors of vampires, zombies, ghouls and the rapture in the face of the end of the world as portended by the comet. Boston goes wild and calls out the militia as our two clerks discover that both taking chances and dealing with the dead has opened them up to life’s possibilities. Always responsible Tom lightens up and finds true love with a beautiful widow, while daydreaming Sam accepts life’s responsibilities and makes his dreams come true. Can you dig it?
